Memories I Ain’t Missing from The Grascals

The Grascals

Billy Blue Records is pleased to present a new single from The Grascals, one written and sung by guitarist Jamie Johnson.

It’s a story that will instantly register with anyone who travels for a living, called Memories I Ain’t Missing.

The song tells of the joys of spending time with a child, as the narrator recognizes the simple brilliance of building memories with your son or daughter as they grow up, things that you’d never get to see when you’re away from home.

For Jamie, a founding member of The Grascals, who left the band to deal with some personal issues, only to return again when the position opened up again, the poignancy of such a basic truth really hit home while he was at home.

“This song idea first came to me just before I got sober, during a time when I was afraid to leave the road because I thought I’d be missing so much. But to my surprise, once I got home and started spending my days with my little boy, Cole, my whole perspective changed.

I called two of my favorite Hall of Fame songwriters, Jim McBride and Jerry Salley, to help make this song everything I hoped it could be — and they did just that.

I’m happy to say that the eight years I spent off the road with Susie Q and Cole turned out to be the best years of my life, and I’m truly grateful for all the ‘memories I ain’t missin’.”

Support comes from bandmates Kristin Scott Benson on banjo, Danny Roberts on mandolin, Jamie Harper on fiddle, Kyle Perkins on bass, and John Bryan on harmony vocals.

Check it out.

Memories I Ain’t Missing is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct.

It will also be included on the next full-length Grascals project, Not Gone Yet, expected August 7 from Billy Blue Records.
