Barenaked Ladies, Bluegrass & Hockey

Event Details

Barenaked LadiesCanadian pop group Barenaked Ladies have recorded what is being described as a “bluegrassy” version of Hockey Night in Canada.

The band’s early recordings did feature a bluegrass-inspired feel at times. Apparently this new recording is a throwback to that earlier sound, even going so far as to include a banjo.

“We wanted to make it sound distinctive like the Barenaked Ladies, so we’ve kind of gone back to one of our old-fashioned feels that we used to use quite a bit in the early days ‚Äî that kinda bluegrassy feel,” said drummer Tyler Stewart. (full story)

Recorded in a Toronto studio, this new “bluegrass-inspired” version of Hockey Night in Canada will be heard during televised games on TSN and RDS starting this month.
