Another Juno nomination for Jayme Stone

Event Details

Jayme Stone has garnered another Juno nomination for his experimental banjo music – his third in as many album releases. As Jayme mentioned in a recent communication, “Does this mean the banjo is back?”

The Junos are Canada-specific music awards, set up to honor Canadian artists in a variety of pop and traditional music categories. Stone’s 2011 nomination is for Room of Wonders in the Instrumental Album of the Year category, where he  also won in 2008 for The Utmost.

His joint project in 2008 with Mansa Sissoko, Africa To Appalachia, won the 2009 Juno for World Music Album of the Year.

Jayme is delighted both by the personal acknowledgment, and for the attention generated for his beloved five string.

“Perhaps people are starting to discover that the banjo’s where it’s at! It’s so cool that the nominations keep coming. I’m thrilled that this album is getting recognized.”

The Junos are announced on Sunday, March 27 during a CTV broadcast from Toronto. Good luck, Jayme!

He will be touring in the US in March, leading up to the awards show. You can see the US tour date information at www.jaymestone.com.
