Terry Poirier moves on from Newtown

Event Details

Terry PoirierThough Jr. Williams and Kati Penn-Williams of Newtown may not have scored the first baby born in 2014, they do have the distinction of making the first major personnel announcement of the new year.

Jr. informs us today that their long time bass player, Terry Poirier, has left the band.

“Terry Poirier, one of the finest bass players in bluegrass or any genre of music, has been an integral part of Newtown’s sound since late 2008. It’s with sadness that we receive the news that he will be departing us, but we wish him well in his leaving, and our best for him in the future.”

Jr. says that they will begin auditions soon for a new bass player, and asks that interested parties contact him by email.

We’ll have more tomorrow on Terry’s new gig.
