Turning Ground wins Bluegrass Island competition

Event Details

turning_groundAt last weekend’s Outer Banks Bluegras Festival in Manteo, NC, Turning Ground from Salyersville, KY was announced as the winners of the First Annual Banjo Island Band competition.

The invitational contest was held on September 26, with each of 7 groups performing an allotted 15 minute set. As winners, Turning Ground received an Eastman E8D guitar, 4 Peterson StroboClip tuners, a custom art piece from Red Drum Pottery, and a spot on the 2015 festival.

The band includes Nathan Arnett and Ralph Adams on guitar, Jonathon Arnett on mandolin, Mike Daniels on banjo, and Chad Gilbert – though Chad was unable to make the performance. Kayla Amburgey filled in on bass.

Their album, Cell Of Mine, was released earlier this year.
