For friends of Monroe Fields in the Knoxville area, here are the details about his funeral arrangements for tomorrow.
Services will be held in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home in Knoxville, TN on February 26 at 7:00 p.m. The family will visit with all comers from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private internment is scheduled for earlier in the day.
Fields was an active bluegrass performer and songwriter in the 1970s and ’80s, including a two year stint with Bill Monroe. A number of his songs were successfully recorded by country artists like George Jones, Lacy J. Dalton, Melba Montgomery, John Anderson and Aaron Tippin.
UPDATE (2/26/15) : Due to todays inclement weather, services for Monroe Fields have been postponed until tomorrow. All events will take place at their perviously scheduled times, just on Friday instead of Thursday. The family was concerned for the safety of friends and family members trying to travel in the snow.
