We have news today on upcoming projects from two of the most celebrated instrumentalists in contemporary bluegrass.
First up is In A Groove, a solo record from Terry Baucom, his first such effort after more than 30 years as a bluegrass banjo sideman! Cindy Baucom, Terry’s wife, manager, chief publicist – not to mention host of syndicated bluegrass radio show, Knee Deep In Bluegrass – said that the most of the songs are new, with a couple of great older ones worthy of reinterpretation.
“This is something that Terry and I have been planning for several years now. He has recorded on countless band albums, but never one of his own. After we felt we had gathered the right combination of songs to offer a variety in style and tempo, we scheduled time this winter to begin bringing these songs to life in the studio.
The ‘core’ band with Terry is Barry Bales on bass, Wyatt Rice on guitar, Adam Steffey on mandolin and Jason Carter on fiddle.
Many might expect this to be an instrumental only project—but quite to the contrary. There is one instrumental offering that Terry wrote and the remainder of the project is filled with a variety dynamic singers in the bluegrass field – and even an in-studio reunion performance by one of the ground-breaking bands that Terry was a founding member of.”
Hmmm… Terry was in on the ground floor of Boone Creek, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out and BlueRidge. Can’t wait for more details on this!

Cindy says that In A Groove will be released early this Spring. She has also promised to get us more information – including more photos and video – as the street date draws near.
The bluegrass world has been waiting a long time for this historic recording – I guess a few more weeks won’t kill us.
