Mark Kuykendall and Bobby Hicks working on new project

Asheville Bluegrass at Crossroads Studio: Nick Dauphinais, Mike Hunter, Bobby Hicks,
Mark Kuykendall, Scott Barnett (engineer), and Seth Rhienhart

We spoke earlier today with Mark Kuykendall, who along with Bobby Hicks, has been working in the studio on their next recording with Asheville Bluegrass. As yet untitled, the album is expected sometime in February on Rebel Records.

Mark tells us that it will contain 14 tracks, several of which are his original songs, with one new instrumental from Bobby. Hicks also sings one, an old Hank Williams number, They’ll Never Take Her Love From Me.

To describe the sound of the band, Kuykendall described the background of the members.

“Well, me and our mandolin player Mike Hunter worked with Jimmy Martin, and both Bobby and I are former Blue Grass Boys. We play hard-driving traditional bluegrass.”

In addition to Mark on guitar, Bobby on fiddle, and Mike on mandolin, Asheville Bluegrass rounds out with Seth Rhienhart on banjo and Nick Dauphinais on bass.

Be on the lookout for their new record early next year.
