Ernie Evans’ cancer fight continues

Ernie Evans - photo by Ted LehmannWe reported last week on Ernie Evans undergoing surgery on November 17. A pair of tumorous growths were successfully removed, along with a kidney stone, but subsequent tests have revealed that the cancer remains.

Ernie is a very popular performer in Florida, where he tours with his wife Debi in the Florida State Bluegrass Band, helps promote a number of festivals, and hosts a weekly radio show.

After a follow-up visit with his doctor on Friday, Ernie shared the following:

“I am back from the Dr and unfortunately looks like I am in for a longer fight. The cancer is still there for now but I will continue to fight. We will be doing more research on next steps this week. I am scheduled for an MRI to show how far it has spread. From there my Dr. will know more about a plan of action.

The doctor wants to wait until my body is healed from the recent surgery before beginning treatments.

Debi and I want to thank you all for all of the encouragement, well wishes and prayers and want you to also know how much you mean to us. For now, we will continue business as usual and looking forward to seeing your smiling faces this season.

We’re not going anywhere.”

Let’s hope to hear some good news soon from Ernie and Debi.
