Flatt Lonesome is a new up and coming group from Callahan, FL. At the core are 3 siblings: Kelsi, Charli, and Buddy Robertson. All three take turns on lead and harmony vocals, continuing the tradition of great family harmony while adding in elements of Gospel, country, and Americana music. Kelsi is on mandolin, Charli fiddles, and Buddy plays the banjo.
The seeds for the band were planted by their dad, Dolton Robertson, a singer, songwriter, guitar player, and independent Baptist minister. Their mother Lisa plays bass and sings and at their father’s prodding the five family members formed a gospel group and got their start playing churches and revivals in Florida.
The younger Robertsons formed the band Flatt Lonesome with three other talented young folks. Michael Stockton is on dobro, Dominic Illingworth plays bass, and playing guitar is Brian Andrews. Their first performance as Flatt Loneseome was at the SPGBMA band competion earlier this year. Together they offer a smooth contemporary bluegrass vibe with a particularly compelling vocal sound.
They have recently teamed up with the popular Georgia bluegrass picker Barry Waldrep for some pretty high profile shows. Along with Barry, they have opened up for big country acts like Marty Stuart and the Zac Brown Band. Not a bad start for a band that’s been performing for just six months!
Flatt Lonesome has signed on with the Andrea Roberts Agency, and made a splash at IBMA playing the Mast Farm Inn Emerging Artist showcase at last week’s World Of Bluegrass, even capturing the attention of the legendary Eddie Stubbs.
