While Volume Five is a traditional band, their soulful singing, dead-on harmonies, and precision picking set them apart from other bands of this style. They have received critical acclaim for their first CD ” Down In A Cell” their first CD. The second CD was “Children of the Mountains” which had their first #1 song ” Anywhere is Home Again” in the nation. The third CD which “Run” has had numerous songs from it in the Bluegrass Today chart for almost every week of 2013. ” Rich Man Daughter” was the first single from this CD which went to number one on the National charts only 3 weeks after it was relaeased. There have been several songs from this Cd to climb as high as #2 on the charts and many weeks they have had as many as 4 songs from this CD at one time in the Top 20 on the National Bluegrass charts.
Volume Five is currently about to release an all Gospel CD on Mountain Fever Records called ” The Day We Learn To Fly.” The title cut was written by long time friend and fellow musician Stacy Richardson. It should be available in March 2013. They are currently recording their next bluegrass CD for Mountain Fever Records called “Voices.” This CD will introduce you to many types of music and you can hear the same originality from Volume Five throughout the entire CD. They also have recorded an old number with the talented Rhonda Vincent in which Glen Harrell and Rhonda do a duet through out the whole song that will leave you wanting to hear more.
One thing you can count on with this band is to never be let down with their show and that they deliver the same great music in their live performance as you hear on their recorded music. Few bands can do that these days. Volume Five will definitely leave you wanting to hear more.

Glen Harrell (fiddle & vocals): Glen has been around music since he was just a child. He started playing guitar at the age of nine and at about age fourteen began playing the fiddle. He played with numerous local bands while in high school, and later toured with several bands around the bluegrass circuit. In 2002, he began playing with country music artist Marty Raybon (former lead singer of the country supergroup Shenendoah), and toured with him for the next five years playing venues all across the nation and in several countries, as well as appearing on worldwide television and playing the hallowed Grand Ole Opry numerous times. After getting together with the guys in this band, in the latter part of 2007, he feels like he has found a musical home. “Nothing is better than playing music with friends as well as having them as band mates when everyone has the same vision for the band.” Glen now lives in a small town in Northeast Mississippi called Luka (it sounds just like it is spelled). He has three children; a son Warren, and two daughters Jordan and Baylee. He has been married to his beautiful wife Michelle for nineteen years. He says that he has been blessed in his musical career, but most of all by his loving wife and children.

Chris Williamson (upright bass & vocals): Chris is from Homer Georgia, and has been playing music since he was 14. He spent two years touring with Randy Kohrs, and also plays with a local band “The Shoal Creek Band”. Chris is the backbone of the band and his bass playing is always rock solid. Patton Wages (banjo/guitar & vocals): Patton was raised in Stockbridge, GA and began playing banjo at age 9. He was first influenced by Earl Scruggs, J.D. Crowe, and Terry Baucom, as well as Scott Vestal, having the opportunity to meet Scott at Everett’s Music Barn shortly after his stint with Doyle Lawson. Patton then worked with the Georgia-based group “Lost Horizon,” playing festivals around the southeast and making numerous appearances on national television. Patton then spent four years in Nashville sharing the stage with Marty Raybon and working at the Gibson Guitar Corp. OAI Division. He now lives in Mountain Rest, SC. Jeff Partin (guitar, dobro, vocals): The newest member of Volume Five, Jeff Partin lives in Ellijay, GA and has been playing since about age five. At age 19, he has already accomplished many great things in his musical career. He as been named the Georgia State Champion on dobro five consecutive times. He played the Grand Old Opry with Mike Snyder when he was only 13 years old. He has played with his family band The Partins for many years in churches and festivals, and has also played and recorded with Tony Ride, Terry Baucom, Mountain Heart and others. Jeff endorses Schoonoger dobros and Snake bars. He is an absolute monster on the instruments he plays, as well as a great singer.
