About twistedpine

Twisted Pine is a Boston based 5-piece bluegrass band whose members all share a common love for the traditional music of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and the Stanley Brothers. The band is composed of Adam Moore on bass and vocals, Kathleen Parks on fiddle and vocals, Rachel Sumner on guitar and vocals, Dan Bui on mandolin, and Ricky Mier on 5-string banjo. On any given night a Twisted Pine show is a wild, unpredictable affair delivering powerful vocals, foot-stomping rhythms, and hot instrumental pickin’. In short, you get more notes for your money.

The band formed while studying at Berklee College of Music. After realizing the incredible chemistry they had together the band secured a monthly residency at the Cantab lounge where they honed their chops, repertoire, and group sound, quickly becoming immersed in the vibrant Boston bluegrass community. Twisted Pine has played with bluegrass luminaries like Peter Rowan and performed on festival stages at Joe Val Bluegrass Festival, Down Home Up Here Bluegrass Festival at Club Passim, and Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. In 2014 they won both the FreshGrass and Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Special band competitions, and recently received a grant from the Iguana Music Fund at Club Passim to record their debut full length album in Nashville at Compass Records Studio.
