Old Joe Clark video from The Bluegrass Babies

The Bluegrass Babies are back, with another of their animated videos introducing young children to bluegrass music. As ever, the music is created by Paul Castle and The Rosinators, with animation by Caroline Roberts of Little Pie Studios.

In this adventure, the Bluegrass Babies, Mo, Bo, and Flo, visit with their animal friends in the state of Kentucky. Big Bru Brewster, the friendly singing bear, stops by to tell the story of mountain man Old Joe Clark in song. He is supported by a cast of wildlife characters, including Great Grandpappy Bru on bass, Hoppity O’Hare on banjo, and Phineas Paddlebutt, the Fiddling Beaver. Also featured are The Racrooners and the Woodchucklers singing on the choruses, and the Amazing Cardinalies, Bird Line Dancing champions of Kentucky.

If you have young children or grandchildren, be sure to show them this video. It’s not only great fun for them to watch, but they will enjoy pointing out the various characters and trying to remember their names. Be sure you have the time, as they will want to watch it over and over!

You can find their other videos on YouTube, including Orange Blossom Special, Blue Ridge Mountain Blues, and Jingle Bells.

Hats off to Paul and Caroline who produce these animated projects to share with bluegrass loving children worldwide at no charge. Well done!

The Bluegrass Babies are back with a new video

Attention parents (and grandparents) with toddlers on the prowl! The Bluegrass Babies have released another charming video, sure to capture your youngster’s attention, and have them singing right along.

Enough of those squeaky, high-pitched children’ videos – teach your baby to appreciate bluegrass right from the start. And they are free online.

This latest project finds the Babies performing a version of Blue Ridge Mountain Blues, assisted by Big Bru and The Posumettes.

The videos are the work of a pair of British grassers, Caroline Roberts and Paul Castle, created simply for the fun of it. Their several animated shorts are each of them a charming example of the genre, of the sort that your children will ask for over and over again.

You can see them all on YouTube or Facebook.

Merry Christmas from The Bluegrass Babies

The Bluegrass Babies are back with a precious Christmas video for 2012. If you have young children, siblings, nieces and nephews, or grandchildren, they are certain to enjoy these musical musings.

The Babies are the brainchild of British children’s book illustrator Caroline Roberts, and Paul Castle of The Rosinators.

Caroline shared a few words about this updated version of Jingle Bells, with their delightful bluegrass vibe.

Unhappy with last year’s rushed seasonal special released late on Christmas Eve, the Babies have re-shot their take on this Christmas classic giving fans plenty of time to enjoy and share the fun before the big day arrives.

In addition, following complaints from fans about the exclusion of master hoofer Dwight Quackman, they are happy to confirm that he has been reinstated and has brought along his winter partner, Rockin’ Robin to add a few foot stomping licks. The Babies are also proud to be introducing a big new talent on the scene, prize winning fiddler “The Mighty Min” from Illinois who makes her video debut with the team.

So sit tight, hold on to the reins and get jingling!

Bluegrass Babies are back

Here’s Act II from the Bluegrass Babies, a clever animated video from British children’s book illustrator Caroline Roberts and Paul Castle of The Rosinators. Our readers loved their first video, and if you have small children (or grandchildren), they will love it too!

This time out, they have a grassed-up version of the familiar Hush Little Baby.

Roberts explains why we haven’t heard from the Babies since the Spring of this year…

“After a bit of a delay (due to artistic differences over the use of a drum ‚Äì now happily resolved!) The Bluegrass Babies launch their second video HUSH (little baby). This time they are in quieter (but not too quiet) mode with their gently rocking version of this much loved lullaby.”

Wonderful stuff… hat’s off to Roberts and Castle!

Bluegrass Babies

Here’s a cute video for young children designed to pique their natural curiosity about music, using animation and bluegrass.

It was created by Caroline Roberts, a children’s book illustrator, and Paul Castle, who plays with the British folk/bluegrass group The Rosinators.

Roberts tells us that The Bluegrass Babies are already rehearsing for a second act.

“Knowing how strongly small children respond to roots music and especially Bluegrass this project just sort of naturally evolved.  It’s just for fun really, but now we’ve started we’ve become addicted and are working on more songs!”
