When The Grascals held their Life Finds A Way CD release party in Nashville last month, a couple of videos were shot to capture the festivities.
Held at the Sirius XM studio downtown on March 27, the event featured a live performance by the band and a chance for Music City media folks to do some meet and greet.
This first video was shot for GAC’s Headline Country, and includes snippets of live music, with a bit of discussion with band members.
This second features a complete performance of Mystery Train from the new album. It’s a blues number that Elvis Presley had as a hit in 1956, reworked in 2012 as a bluegrass song.
You can listen to the music from Life Finds A Way at the Crossroads Music site or in iTunes.
Look for them on the On The Streets program, airing on Tuesday June 15 at 1:00 and 9:00 p.m. (EDT), and again several more times throughout the week. They will sit for an interview and perform the first single (Live It) live in the studio.
Here’s a rundown of when you can catch them on GAC (all times EDT):
June 15 – 1:00 and 9:00 p.m.
June 16 – 1:00 a.m.
June 18 – 10:30 p.m.
June 19 – 2:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The guys join host Bill Cody for an interview about their success at the IBMA Awards show, along with winners from the recent Americana Music Association Honors and Awards winners.
The show airs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31 and twice again in early December.
The Grascals are scheduled to perform this Saturday (8/16) on The Grand Ole Opry, not only on the radio, but on the televised portion as well. They’ll be offering songs from their latest CD, Keep On Walkin’, and celebrating the two IBMA nominations they received yesterday.
An hour of Saturday’s Opry show is carried live on GAC TV, on Opry Live, which airs from 9:00-10:00 p.m. (EDT). The show will re-air on Sunday (8/17) at 1:00 a.m., again at noon and 7:00 p.m., and then again on Tuesday (8/19) at 8:00 p.m.

We mentioned yesterday that Rhonda Vincent was being considered in the second round of CMA voting for her duet with Gene Watson, an it turns out, The Gracsals are candidates in this last vote as well, in the Vocal Group Of The Year category.
Wouldn’t it be great to see several bluegrass acts among the CMA nominees?
GAC is partnering with Music Nation and their Original Signal Recording label, to manage the competition. Their goal is to select the next American country music star, first from among video and mp3 entries submitted by July 14, and then among six finalists selected to appear in a two-part live TV elimination September 3 and 10.
The finalists will be chosen through a series of head-to-head online votes, with entrants randomly pitted against another. From May 23 through July 21, two winners will be chosen each week – one by online ballot, and the other chosen by the show’s staff.
The 16 semi-finalists will be winnowed to six by a celebrity panel of judges when The Next GAC Star premiers on June 1, with these six moving on to the live finals in September.
The winner, chosen by the television audience, will receive a recording contract with Original Signal and a music video to be aired on GAC. Of course, all six finalists will receive exposure on the two final episodes of the show, and selected submission videos will be aired during the semi-final shows.
Amanda Pitts with Music Nation told us that bluegrass artists are encouraged to enter! Video or audio submissions can be uploaded on the Music Nation site.
Their first music video is set to debut tomorrow (11/18) on GAC TV. It’s for the song, Born Lonesome, from their current Skaggs Family release, Blind Man Walking.
C-Sky’s Bryan Simpson said that working with director Roger Pistole was a great experience.
“Yeah… working with Roger was awesome. He’s done videos as varied as Del McCoury’s My Love Will Not Change and Limp Bizkit’s Sour.
This video is a little bit different from what we’ve seen from other bluegrass bands. The story is a bit abstract, and you may need to see it a few times before you catch the whole thing.”
The video is set to air for the first time on Sunday at 11:30 (EST) on GAC’s Edge Of Country show. Simpson said that they hope to have the video available for viewing online by sometime next week.
The band will be heading back into the studio early next year to start on their next CD, also slated for a Skaggs Family release.
GAC-TV was a primary sponsor of the IBMA Awards Show last week, and this week they are beginning a run of four episodes of their show Edge of Country, featuring a large number of bluegrass artists.
a great mix of bluegrass, Americana, country rock and traditional styles.
The footage was captured by GAC during the IBMA World of Bluegrass week in Nashville. From what I understand, it consists mainly of interviews conducted backstage during Fan Fest.
Some of the time slots are’t all that fantastic, but at this point it’s just nice to see some coverage of the event making to air.
According to the GAC website, the first segment runs tonight at 11 PM EST and then again at 3 AM EST.
The second segment will air only once at 1 PM EST tomorrow.
Similar times are given for the third and fourth episodes, set to air on October 19-20, 2007.
