David Parmley announces his touring band for 2023

Today David Parmley has announced who will be touring with him in support of his new project with 615 Hideaway Records, So Wha’d I Miss?

This answers a big question fans have had since David’s return to recording last year, i.e., whether or not he would be going out to perform live. The road life has never appealed to him, leading Parmley to twice disband a group after tiring of touring. His decision was also influenced by health concerns.

David is reuniting with two former members of Continental Divide, including his former partner in the band, Scott Vestal on banjo, one of the most highly celebrated players in contemporary bluegrass. Also a former member is Mike Anglin on bass, along with Doug Bartlett on mandolin and Craig Fletcher on fiddle.

Parmley says that he is rarin’ to go.

“I’m really excited to start this new chapter of my career in music. The announcement of my new band, these guys are some of the very best musicians and people I know! I’m looking forward to the future and the music we’re going to make together.”

Tour dates for David Parmley are expected to be announced soon for 2023.

Doug Bartlett to Zink & Company

Corey Zink has announced the newest member to his group, Zink & Co. Doug Bartlett has joined the band, playing mandolin and some twin fiddle.

Doug’s should be a familiar face to bluegrass fans, as he has worked with a number of prominent touring acts both as a sub and a regular member. You may have seen him on stage in the past alongside Doyle Lawson, James King, or Del McCoury, and he has also performed with Lonesome River Band and most recently, David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition.

He’s been on board with Zink since last month, and it seems that now, it’s been made official!

Corey welcomes him warmly into the band.

“I am thrilled to have Doug as a member of the group and look forward to working with him. I feel he is a great fit for the band. Please join the ‘Co’ and I in welcoming Doug to our Bluegrass Family.”

He joins Zink on guitar and lead vocals, with John Roc on bass, Dan Menzone on banjo, and Gary Pomerleau on fiddle.

The band is touring throughout the summer in support of their latest album, Zink & Company IV. You can follow their schedule online.

Doug Bartlett to Hammertowne

Kentucky’s Hammertowne has announced the addition of Doug Bartlett on fiddle and vocals. They are making the move to a six-piece format just ahead of the release of their Highways & Heartaches album on Mountain Fever in April.

Doug has many years of experience in bluegrass, with time in with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Lonesome River Band, and Del McCoury. He is expected to bring even more versatility to the Hammertowne sound, as he will be the fifth lead singer in the group.

He joins Bryan Russell on bass, Scott Tackett on guitar, Brent Pack on banjo, Chaston Carroll on mandolin, and David Carroll on guitar.

David Carroll speaks for the band with high praise for Bartlett.

“Doug is one of the most talented people I know. Not only is he a top tier musician and singer, he is a joy to be around. His fiddle playing is an absolute perfect fit for our music. We’re all just thrilled about the future with Doug in the mix.”

Doug’s first show will be the Hammertowne CD release celebration on April 11 at Simply The Best Sports Bar and Grill in Grayson, KY.

Look for Highways & Heartaches to hit on April 7.
