Simple Things video from Christian Davis

Christian Davis has released a lyric video for one of the songs on his current album, The Big Picture.

It’s a song called Simple Things, which extols the virtues of pulling back a bit from our high tech, fast-paced lifestyle, produced with an acoustic country feel.

Bluegrass fans remember Christian as the former bass singer with Dailey & Vincent who has since gone out on his own. His sound mixes his bluegrass, country, and Gospel music influences, all reinforced with Davis’ deep baritone voice.

The Big Picture is available wherever you stream or download music online, or on CD from Turnberry Records. Simple Things is distributed to radio programmers by CDX

Rosine I Cry from Christian Davis

Christian Davis hit the bluegrass work with a bang back in 2010 when he signed on with Dailey & Vincent.

He was hired as a bass singer, but in the bluegrass way, Jamie and Darrin insisted that he also play an instrument. So poor Christian was brought out holding a guitar before he even learned to play one! But he struggled on and became a decent guitarist in time, and won over the D&V fans with his warm personality and his deep, resonant bass voice.

After five years with the band, Davis took his leave to start working on a music ministry of his own, and a solo career as a singer. He told us at the time that his new sound would be structured around both bluegrass and country music, and he signed in 2017 to work with Keith Barnacastle and Turnberry Records. Keith also manages Christian, and they have released a first single from their first album together.

The album is titled, The Big Picture, and was recorded with assistance from Rob Ickes, Matt Menefee, Avery Bright, Carl Minor, Ethan Ballinger, Austin Hoke, and several others. It mixes all the musical styles that Davis holds dear, including bluegrass, contemporary Christian, and Gospel.

This first single is pure bluegrass – it’s even about Bill Monroe! Well, about his home at least. Rosine I Cry asks the town where Big Mon was born and raised, metaphorically speaking, where it is located, making reference to the fact that it is way back in the hills, away from prying eyes and big city lights. Christian sings it as a duet with Rhonda Vincent, as you can hear in this lyric video created for the song.

The Big Picture is available now wherever you purchase music online, or on CD from Christian’s web site. Radio programmers can find the tracks at AirPlay Direct.

Christian Davis to Turnberry Records and Management

Turnberry Records and Management Team has announced the signing of bluegrass and Gospel artist Christian Davis to their label and agency.

Bluegrass fans remember Chris from his several years as bass vocalist with Dailey & Vincent. His deep, rich, and resonant voice helped the group in their pursuit of Southern Gospel along with bluegrass, and their memorable reworking of classic songs by The Statler Brothers.

But Davis doesn’t only sing way down low. He has a wide vocal range, and is looking forward to bringing his own approach to contemporary bluegrass to the fore with a new project for Turnberry early in 2018. It will be produced by Wayne Haun along with Chris and Keith Barnacastle of Turnberry.

Christian says Barnacastle has believed in him for some time, and he can’t wait to get started.

“Joining Turnberry Records is genuinely exciting for me! Not only is Turnberry my first solo record label, but Keith was the first promoter who booked me and my band after departing Dailey & Vincent as he gave me a platform to bring this incredible music to life. Keith’s association with the music industry has long defined his values and I am honored that he has welcomed me to the Turnberry Family. The label has embraced my personal evolution as an artist and performer in the Gospel, bluegrass and country genres allowing me to continue to inspire and enrich the lives of people all across the world. I am overjoyed to partner with Turnberry as we cross new horizons musically and personally!”

Christian Davis departs Dailey & Vincent

Christian Davis, the bottomless bass singer for Dailey & Vincent this past five years, has announced that he is leaving the band to focus on his own solo music ministry.

A new CD is planned for the near future, and personal appearances have been booked going forward, including at the upcoming National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Davis shared a heartfelt message this morning as he announced his plans.

“For the past five and a half years, I’ve had the honor to use the gift God gave to sing with the most wonderful people, Dailey and Vincent. I am forever grateful to Jamie and Darrin for five and a half years of laughs, fun, brotherhood and great music. Jamie and Darrin have pushed me to be a better musician, singer and man and I am eternally grateful for their investment in me. The platform given to me by Jamie and Darrin is one I could never repay them for. They are perfect examples of how a God-given dream, hard work and determination can change the world through music. Traveling with Jamie, Darrin, Jeff, Bob, BJ, Jessie and Seth has been a great privilege. To say I will miss them would be an understatement.

As I look forward to this next season, I ask that you join me in praying for Dailey and Vincent. Go support them by seeing them in concert, buying a CD at Cracker Barrel and enjoy the best in bluegrass music!

I look forward to what the Lord has in store for my next season as I prepare to go out as a soloist. We will tour select dates featuring a full band, building on the platform of Dailey and Vincent. Join us in prayer as we charge into new territory and towards a new task. I am focused where God is leading willing to follow wherever He takes me.”

Dailey & Vincent are bringing in Aaron McCune to sing bass with the group, starting with their big Land Fest this weekend in Denton, NC.

Jamie Dailey shared this statement about the change…

“As most all of you know, bands members come and go from time to time. Though Darrin and I always try to embrace change it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s always easy for us. After five and a half years our friend Christian Davis is departing our band. Christian will be pursuing a solo career and with his voice and talent we expect big things for him. He has been a blessing to us and we have enjoyed singing every note with him. You can check out www.christiandavisonline.com for all of his career information. We encourage you to support he and his family and we know you will.

Aaron hails from Clay West Virginia but he and his wife now make their home in Southern Illinois. Aaron has filled in for Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys, he has sang for Wynonna and Willie Nelson. He sang for Gold City Quartet for five years and became a bass singing star within the Gospel community. Aaron grew up playing bluegrass with his family and friends and plays the guitar with a thumb pick. Lester Flatt is one of Aaron‘s heroes. “

Best of luck to both Christian and Dailey & Vincent going forward.

Dailey & Vincent Gospel harmony DVD

Homespun has released a Gospel harmony instructional DVD, Dailey & Vincent teach Bluegrass and Gospel Quartet Singing.

As the title suggests, this new project features Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent demonstrating how to sing selected vocal quartets from their recently released album The Gospel Side of Dailey & Vincent, their 2010 Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers CD, and their Dove award-winning album Singing From the Heart.

Darrin says that it should be of interest to singers and fans alike.

“This DVD is both informative and musical. Jamie, Jeff Parker, Christian Davis and myself walk you through vocal arrangments, isolate parts where you can sing along, plus add some of our humor to the lessons.

It’s always nice to work with Happy Traum and Homespun on these teaching DVD’s, and we recommend all his other DVD’s to beginners and experts who want to learn more about their favorite artist.”

Songs taught include He’s Been So Good to Me, Living in the Kingdom of God, Until At Last I’m Home, Amazing Grace, Country Roads, Flowers on the Wall, Class of ’57, and Moses Smote the Water

Here’s a trailer with several snippets from the DVD.

Christian Davis to Dailey & Vincent

Dailey & Vincent have announced the hiring of Christian Davis to sing bass and play a second guitar in the band, starting this weekend (1/22).

Christian has been singing since he was a young boy, working with a number of southern Gospel groups. D&V proudly point out that he was a founding member of the Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet while a student at Liberty University, and has also sung with Christian Brothers Quartet and Mercy’s Mark.

He joins Jeff Parker on mandolin and vocals, Joe Dean on banjo and vocals and Jesse Stockman on fiddle, along with Jamie Dailey on guitar/vocals and Darrin Vincent n bass/vocals. Joe had been doing a far better than capable job as bass vocalist in the quartets, and I suppose he will stick to banjo going forward.

I expect to catch up with Jamie and Darrin this weekend and will find out more about their future plans for the group.
