Southeast Michigan Bluegrass Music Association forms

Bluegrass fans in southeastern Michigan now have an advocacy group of their very own.

A team of dedicated bluegrass lovers have established the Southeast Michigan Bluegrass Music Association, as of July 16. They have adopted as their motto, “Working Together to Preserve and Promote Bluegrass Music.”

Officers have been selected, and the SEMBMA will have a booth at the Milan Bluegrass Festival and the Blissfield Bluegrass Festival later this month to share information and sign up new members.

They describe their mission thusly:

The Association will function as a support group for member organizations, venues, bands, musicians, and fans.

Officers chosen include:

  • President – Bill Warren
  • Vice President – Wendy Smith
  • Treasurer – Pat Boggs
  • Secretary – Pam Warren

At this early stage, all they have for an online presence is a Facebook page and an email address, but that should be remedied soon. Potential members and interested parties are requested to contact them for more details.
