Noam Pikelny to deliver World of Bluegrass Keynote

The International Bluegrass Music Association has announced that Noam Pikelny, banjo player with Punch Brothers and successful solo artist, will deliver the Keynote Address to the membership during the 2013 World of Bluegrass convention in September.

Noam will give his thoughts on the current state of the bluegrass world on Tuesday, September 24, the opening day of IBMA’s big week in Raleigh, NC. His address is scheduled during a reception that afternoon from 4:00-5:30 p.m., just prior to the first set of showcase performances in what the organization is billing as the Bluegrass Ramble. Shows will take place in the Raleigh Convention Center ballroom, and in six nearby downtown clubs.

In addition to being among the premiere banjo players of his day, Pikelny is a thoughtful and insightful man, and his speech is sure to challenge and inspire the assembled grassers. He also possesses a wickedly dry sense of humor, and an encyclopedic knowledge of bluegrass, both modern and traditional.

His work with Punch Brothers has showed him a side of the entertainment business few bluegrass artists are able to see, and his reflections should be a must-see moment for anyone planning to attend.
