New CD/DVD from Todd Taylor

South Carolina banjo man Todd Taylor has a new CD, and a live performance DVD, available for sale.

The CD is called Indescribable, and includes 11 instrumental tracks, 5 of them Taylor originals. All showcase Todd’s signature style, which involves both modern bluegrass, and his penchant for adapting musical styles not typically performed on a banjo to suit our beloved five string.

His own tunes fall within the more progressive side of contemporary banjo music, performed in a pop/rock setting. The arrangements from outside bluegrass cover a fairly wide range of genres, from roll-oriented  takes on Ozzy Osborne’s Crazy Train and Led Zeppelin’s epic anthem, Stairway To Heaven, to a lovely trio version of the 1st Bach Cello Suite, recorded with bass and cello accompaniment.

Audio samples can be found in iTunes or CD Baby.

The DVD is a live performance of the Cello Suite, which you can see below.
