Late week report from Driven

This year during the IBMA World of Bluegrass, we are delighted to have Driven, one of the invited showcase acts, chronicling their experiences for us at Bluegrass Today. It is both an honor and an opportunity for a group to be invited to showcase, and we thought it would be interesting to follow one throughout their big week in Raleigh. Here is a Saturday report for the past two days from fiddler, Rebekah Workman. Look for more reports this week.

On Thursday afternoon we sent Jake, Brandon and Blake to the gig fair while Jimmy and I stuck to the booth in the exhibit hall. They met with 10 different festival promoters and felt that some had a very positive prospect, while others seemed like trickier gigs to land. Overall Jake and the boys felt that it was worth the time and effort spent, and we will know more on how worthwhile it was over the next few months.

We’ve all put a ton of time in at the booth the last two days and have sold many CDs and even given out the last few Dapper Dan pick cans! We still have more “Bluegrass Without Mercy” stickers though if you want to come by.

We played a really fun set last night for the great people of the California Bluegrass Association. It was nice to play acoustically for a very attentive crowd, even if it was a sauna in there! That was our last IBMA showcase this year; it was nice they all went so well but sad that we were finished.

Today we had some killer jams at the booth with some good friends. We gave Adam Steffey a Dapper Dan can as he stopped by! We just caught the all-star band set at the amphitheater, I couldn’t miss it since Stuart Duncan is my favorite fiddler. We’re tired now but going to push to the end, more fun to be had!
