Jayme Stone in the studio - Bluegrass Today

Jayme Stone has also been in the studio of late, working on a new album. The award-winning Canadian banjoist tells us that the music is loosely based on folk dances from around the world: Norway, Sweden, Italy, Bulgaria, Brazil, Tunisia and North America.

The core band features Jayme on banjo, Casey Driessen on fiddle, Grant Gordy on guitar and Greg Garrison on bass. Joining them as special guests are Olov Johansson on nyckelharpa, Kevin Turcotte on trumpet, William Carn on trombone, Ben Grossman on hurdy gurdy, and Nick Fraser on drums.

David Travers-Smith produced, and Jayme says that the album contains both original compositions and adaptations of traditional music. An October 2010 release is anticipated.
