Goat Rodeo from House of Blues on PBS

Regular readers may recall us posting back in January about acoustic supergroup Goat Rodeo Sessions doing a live concert simulcast to movie theaters across the US. The event was streamed from the House of Blues in Boston on January 31, and also filmed by WGBH TV over the course of two nights in Beantown.

The footage captured has been edited into a one-hour program, The Goat Rodeo Sessions Live, which will debut Friday, May 25 on PBS.

Goat Rodeo Sessions is a special project released last Fall, from four of the most celebrated string musicians performing actively today. Yo-Yo Ma is on cello, Chris Thile on mandolin, Stuart Duncan on fiddle and Edgar Meyer on bass. Joining them on the record, and for this PBS show, is vocalist Aoife O’Donovan.

The Goat Rodeo Sessions Live will primarily feature selections from the album, like this number, Here And Heaven, written by Thile and O’Donovan.

The Goat Rodeo Sessions Live is set to air at 9:00 p.m. (EDT) on PBS affiliates, though some stations may choose to schedule it at a different time.
