The bluegrass world was mildly scandalized when Doyle started using a drummer on certain shows in 2011, but what will they think of this – Doyle on drums in the studio!?
Not to worry. He’s not laying down his trusty mando. The picture was taken this week while Doyle was at Quicksilver reso-guitarist Josh Swift’s studio (Cowbell Fever), where the latest band album is being mixed.
Josh tells us that Doyle’s stick time came as a big surprise.
“We were taking a break and he just sat down and starting playing! You know….HE DOES KNOW TIMING…. Mikey and I were in shock, looked slowly at each other and then we all busted out laughing! I gotta say, his form looks great!!!”
Before any ugly rumors get started, Doyle assured us that he was just playing with Swifty’s toys. Drums won’t be coming back to Quicksilver any time soon.
Besides… I’m not sure you can play the drums in shiny red boots.
