Miss Dixie, as she was known to family and friends, had been ill this past year, and had limited her professional activities. She was always a friend to young bluegrass artists, providing food and shelter when needed, and encouragement in large doses without fail.
In her life, she had written several hundred songs, many of them recorded in bluegrass. Hall also spent many years as a music journalist, and running her and Tom T.’s label, Blue Circle Records.
We’ll have a more detailed profile of this major force in bluegrass later this weekend.
