The band exists to retain the sound of the many classic Country Gentlemen songs, and offer an opportunity for today’s audiences to experience them live. Guitarist Mike Phipps has a voice remarkably similar to the great Charlie Waller, bringing a startlingly precise recreation to shows by the Tribute Band.
Other band members – David Propst on mandolin, Rick Briggs on banjo, Mark Clifton on reso-guitar, Mike Conner on bass – tailor their playing to match the sound and feel of the Country Gentlemen of old, surely among the most popular bluegrass bands from their launch in 1957 to Waller’s death in 2004.
Randy Graham, principal agent at Graham Talent, says that “They are to Country Gentlemen fans what ‘The Earls’ are to Flatt & Scruggs devotees.”
