This is in addition to their Kids on Bluegrass program, which prepares and coaches young pickers and singers for a stage performance at the festival each year.
CBA has contracted with Bluegrass Camps for Kids to run the workshop, under the direction of Kate Hamre. Students will be able to choose instruction in the common bluegrass instruments, at varying skill levels. Classes in voice, dance, jamming and vocal harmony will be offered as well.
A registration fee of $300 is required to attend, though some scholarship assistance is available. This includes admission to the festival, but an adult parent/guardian with their own festival ticket must accompany each student on site. A total of 35 students will be allowed this first year, so early registration is recommended.
