A big part of that hospitality was provided by David Jackson, known to all and sundry as “Brother Dave,” who worked at The Down Home for many years. Dave passed away last weekend (July 4), and will be remembered on Friday (July 9) at a special memorial show at the club.
There weren’t many jobs at The Down Home he didn’t handle at some point, from pulling beer, to booking bands, and sweeping up after. His wit and folk wisdom are well-remembered by performers and patrons alike, and he will be missed by a great many people in the music world.
Friends can pass along their condolences and remembrances via the Snyder’s Memorial Gardens web site.
