We caught up with his wife, Amber, over the weekend, and she shared an update on his condition. She said that his surgery went well last week, but that he is still in post-surgical pain. Doctors had hoped that both problems were being caused by a peritoneal dialysis tube to his stomach, so they replaced it with a dialysis port in his neck. So far he is doing well keeping clear liquids down, and Amber is very optimistic.
Once his condition can be stabilized, Blake will be waiting for a kidney transplant, and his friends and family have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his current and future medical expenses, and to support his young family during this time.
More details about all of that can be found in a story we published when Johnson was hospitalized again on June 25.
We will post further updates when we learn more. Blake is at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
