Tonight it’s the banjo players’ turn to shine, as Aaron McDaris, banjo picker with Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, has been invited to play the ol’ five on The Voice. This singing competition show is a big hit for NBC TV, with celebrity judges choosing teams of young vocalists who compete for a cash prize and a Universal Music record contract.
Rhonda tells us that when Blake Shelton, top-selling country artist and one of four celebrity judges on the show, wanted to have some banjo for one of the contestants this week, he sent out word to get the best. So Aaron is in Hollywood ready to add the bluegrass to whatever they have in store.
McDaris has spent the past eight years traveling with Rhonda, and before that spent time with The Grascals. Given Rhonda’s rigorous touring schedule, he doesn’t often find time to get involved in outside projects, but the timing was just right for this one.
Tune in tonight at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC to see Aaron on the TV. He’s certainly one of the bright lights in the banjo universe and is sure to turn in a top notch performance.
