The Littlest Dobro from Ivan Rosenberg

Reso-guitar master Ivan Rosenberg has come up with a clever way to promote his next recording, using the crowdfunding site Kickstarter to generate advance orders.

He has found success for his melodic old time and contemporary bluegrass recordings, as an in-demand instructor of resophonic slide guitar, and for his production of background music for television and film. Students and bandmates also know Ivan for his wicked sense of humor, which he expresses freely in his song titles. His twisted genius was also behind the popular “Sex, Drugs, and Flatt & Scruggs” t-shirts which popped up a few years ago.

This next album, The Littlest Dobro, is being recorded with The Slocan Ramblers, and Annie Stannic on fiddle. It is expected to be available in July and will include a number of Ivan’s new dobro instrumentals. He will also prepare a book of tablature for students of the instrument, plus a “no dobro” mix for pickers who may want to play along.

A multi-talented artist, Rosenberg also created this claymation video of himself and his anthropomorphic guitar pitching the project.

You can find all the various ways you can pre-order Ivan’s CD, book, and music-minus-one mix on his Kickstarter page.
