Everyone’s A Kid At Christmas video from Lindley Creek

Welcome to the official start to the Christmas season! Even though the traditional Christian Nativity observance has been from December 25 to January 6 – the 12 days of Christmas – the modern world has stretched this period out to include much of November. But on the day after Thanksgiving, it seems that most folks are ready to get into the spirit of the holiday season.

Lindley Creek, the highly talented and decidedly redheaded Greer family from the Ozark region, has a new Christmas single for 2020. It’s Everyone’s A Kid At Christmas, a sentiment with which most of us can find ourselves in agreement, especially if we are fortunate enough to spend our holidays with little ones. The Greers give it a sort of a ’50s vibe, enhanced by Katie Greer’s soulful and compelling vocal.

Speaking as the full band, Lindley Creek shared their thoughts about this song, and the new video premiering here today.

“Our family loves Christmas! As a matter of fact, we have been doing a full Christmas show for the past 8 years. (It’s an hour and a half of ALL Christmas music.) As many know, holiday music is some of the most challenging. Chord progressions and timing vary greatly from a typical bluegrass song! The ability to meld the two sounds is something we have taken very seriously, and hope that the listeners will sense our devotion to the nostalgia and tradition surrounding Christmas.

The song was penned by Barry Ricks and Tim Stafford who did a wonderful job capturing the feeling of a classic Christmas masterpiece. We worked with our producer, Jim VanCleve, to create what we hope will be a Bluegrass Christmas standard for years to come!

Creating music videos is a real passion for our band, so of course we wanted to make a memorable video for Everyone’s a Kid at Christmas! Katie had a vision of walking though a Christmas tree farm. It turned out so beautifully. We can’t wait for you to see it! There is also an appearance of Katie’s nieces, Kana and Kora, who portray the little girls in the video enjoying the Christmas Eve treats and Christmas morning gifts. We love the shot of the little girls dancing in the snow!

We want to thank the bluegrass community for welcoming our family. This first year has been such a blessing to us and we are so thankful to Bluegrass Today and everyone that plays a part in promoting the music we all love so much!”

Lindley Creek is Katie Greer on mandolin, Jase Greer on fiddle, Kathie Greer on guitar, and John Rob Greer (Dad) on bass.

Freedom, Love, and the Open Road from Lindley Creek

More great new music…

Lindley Creek, aka the Greer family of southwestern Missouri, is celebrating the release of their debut album on Pinecastle Records today. Freedom, Love, and the Open Road showcases the group’s modern bluegrass sound, assisted by the expert production of Jim VanCleve. With two lead singers and all the benefits of family harmony, this is a band on the rise.

As a taste of their sound, the Greers prepared this composite video with samples of the record’s three singles, interspersed with comments from the family. Katie plays mandolin, Jase is on fiddle, Kathie on guitar, and dad, John Rob, plays bass.

And here’s Katie on the previous single, Voice of the Mockingbird.

Lindley Creek to Pinecastle – and music video for I Gotta Go

Pinecastle Records has announced their signing of Lindley Creek, consisting of the Greer family from Missouri. A new album, Freedom, Love, and the Open Road, is expected on June 12.

There is much to like about the Greers. They have a fresh, contemporary sound, featuring the voice of mandolinist Katie Greer, who is likely to win over a major part of the bluegrass audience with their just released single, I Gotta Go. She is joined by her brother Jase on fiddle, sister Kathie on guitar, and their father John on bass. All four share in the singing, with that lovely blend you only get in a family setting.

Pinecastle has produced a music video for I Gotta Go, which highlights the energy, and positive vibes that Lindley Creek exudes, even on a breakup song like this. Written by Ashby Frank, one of our music’s more interesting songwriters, it tells of a woman who has had enough of a man who doesn’t truly value her, and, thus, has gotta go.

The band shared a few thoughts about their new label, first single, and upcoming album.

“We are so excited to be the newest part of the Pinecastle team. They believed in our music and we are thrilled to partner with such a well-respected label that has brought so much great music to bluegrass.

We have been touring full-time for ten years, so the choice to record I Gotta Go was an easy one!  The more we tour, the more we realize that it’s good to get out and see how other people think and react to life. It really expands your views. We are thrilled to be releasing our full album, Freedom, Love and the Open Road, later this year. We have put our hearts and souls into this album to be something that people feel is real and to which they can connect on a personal level.”

I smell a hit!

A sentiment that is shared by Ethan Burkhardt, Pinecastle Records CEO, who tells us…

“We’re excited to introduce Lindley Creek to the national scene with their new release. Initially we were very impressed with their recording, and we soon discovered that they are equally as talented on the business side, with video creation, graphic design, and general business savvy, all of which is needed more and more in our genre. We’re excited about their potential and know that you’ll be equally impressed.”

Look for big things from this bunch.
