Spanish banjo master Lluis Gómez has a new banjo book which he says was only unintentionally released. He assembled it as a teaching aid for himself, but since students and workshop participants expressed such a strong interest in purchasing a copy, he decided to print some up for that purpose.
It’s not a true instructional book, having no explanatory text, but does boast a load of valuable banjo resources useful to any serious student of the 5 string.
Gómez offered this brief overview…
“It’s a collection of tablature I’ve transcribed over the years. Standard tunes in Scruggs style, fiddle tunes in C, D, Dm, G and A (with and without a capo), some Russ Barrenberg transcriptions, Irish tunes and exercises, some modern banjo technique studies and some Béla Fleck, Tony Trischka and Bill Keith licks and techniques.”
5 String Banjo Book is not listed as an item for sale on Lluis’ web site, but he said that anyone interested in a copy of the book is welcome to contact him online for ordering information.
It’s not likely to be offered to dealers and shops, so give the author a shout if you’d like a copy. It’s certain to be a collector’s item before long.
