2018 Monroe Mandolin (Banjo, Fiddle, Guitar, Bass, Singing) Camp

Original, iconic, foundational ground-breaking bluegrass music as played through the 30’s-90’s by Bill Monroe and His Blue Grass Boys. In 2018, the 5th Annual Camp, instruction on all the bluegrass instruments will be included: mandolin, fiddle, guitar, upright bass, banjo, and singing. With a cast of Blue Grass Boys and instructors including Bob Black (banjo), Byron Berline (fiddle), Mike Bub (bass), Jody Stecher (guitar and singing), Alan Munde (banjo), Mike Compton, Skip Gorman, Matt Flinner (in our segment called “playing it forward”-taking the original sounds into the current stylistic musical musings), Caleb Klauder (our old-time influences on bluegrass music), Mark Royal and John Keith all on Mandolin, luthiers Paul Duff and Will Kimble, and Special Guest presenters Mark Hembree, Bobby Hicks, Evan Reilly, and Tom Isenhour. Over 110 classes to choose from open to everyone to pick and choose from. Gourmet hot meals. Beautiful setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains just east of Asheville, NC. Organized jams and late night sessions. Opening night dance with band and caller open to the public. Final night rocking concert with our instructors, winners of our video scholarship opportunity, luthiers, and Original Blue Grass Boys. This is THE place to be in September for 5 days of incredible community, friendship, jams, and mind-blowing music!
