The Americana Music Conference

Today is the start of The Americana Music Conference. I spoke via email with Mark Montgomery, president of The Americana Music Association and owner of Echo Music. Mark gave me the low down on what’s happening this week at the event.

Nashville’s the place to be September 8-10 when 48 great acts come to the Cannery Ballroom, Mercy Lounge, Station Inn and the Basement for full-length showcases during the Americana Music Conference. Previously closed to delegates only, this year you can join music industry movers and shakers for three exciting nights of shows by top artists for only $25! Check out this lineup:

September 8: Avett Brothers, Bobby Bare, Blue Highway, Solomon Burke, Hayes Carll, Elizabeth Cook, Derailers, Mary Gauthier, the Grascals, the Hacienda Brothers, Lucero, Buddy Miller, Tim O’Brien, Eve Selis, Chris Stamey, Marty Stuart, Swamp Cabbage, Uncle Earl, Holly Williams and Adrienne Young.

Central Texas Bluegrass! Volume 2

The Central Texas Bluegrass Association has released their second CD of tunes from member bands. There are 23 tracks on the disc presented by thirteen bands/artists who are featured on the project including the Austion Lounge Lizards and Adam Wright the winner of several prestigious flatpicking championships such as Winfield, Merlefest, Rockygrass, Henderson, and the 2005 Texas State Flatpicking Championship.

The CTBA has been around since 1978 offering bluegrass lovers in central Texas a home.
