Bryce LaFoon was on hand with his camera this past Saturday for The Earl Scruggs Center’s Remembering Earl concert, benefitting the Center, and celebrating both their 10th anniversary and the 100th birthday of the great Earl Scruggs.

He shared this gallery of images taken at the Malcolm Brown Auditorium in Shelby, which he tells us has fabulous acoustics, during a show that featured The Travelin’ McCourys, Tony Trischka’s Earl Jam, and Jerry Douglas, with special guest Kristin Scott Benson.

Also running this past weekend was the Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Bristol, TN/VA, an all-genres festival that celebrates the blossoming of the very first recording of Appalachian folk music in Bristol back in 1927.

Bryce Lafoon spent this past weekend at the Earl Scruggs Music Festival in Mill Spring, NC, and has shared these images from the stage shows. The festival is held in honor of the great Earl Scruggs, and the music he played and inspired, located about 35 miles from where the great man was born in southwestern North Carolina.

Dan Tyminski and Po’ Ramblin’ Boys for Earl Scruggs Center

On Saturday evening, March 4, the Dan Tyminski Band performed in Shelby, NC for the Remembering Earl benefit show put on by the Earl Scruggs Center. The event was held at the Malcolm Brown Auditorium in beautiful downtown Shelby.

Opening was The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys out of Tennessee. The band played a memorable evening set closing with the classic Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

The show featured audio clips from Scruggs, as well as other artists, talking about Earl Scruggs’ legacy and his contribution to bluegrass music.

Old Crow plays spooky Halloween show at The Orange Peel in Asheville

Bryce LaFoon with Lightshifter Studios was at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC on Saturday night (10/29) for a special Halloween party with Old Crow Medicine Show. The guys were all decked out in freaky, scary attire, and everybody in the hall was enjoying the scene.
