Memorial Fund for John McGann

The acoustic music world was shocked last month to learn of the sudden passing of John McGann, a musician who had distinguished himself over many years of excellence in both performance and instruction.

John was serving on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music in Boston at the time of his death, and was familiar to a wide world of guitarists and mandolinists for his instructional DVDs on a variety of topics, and his Custom Transcription Service.

A memorial fund has been established in his honor, primarily for the benefit of his family. John left behind a wife and a 14 year old daughter, and we understand from some of John’s friends that the family are in a dire financial situation.

Donations to the fund can be sent via check (made to John McGann Memorial Fund) to:

Brookline Bank
1808 Centre st
West Roxbury, MA 02132

Contributions of any size will surely be greatly appreciated.
