XXX banjo celebrates Nechville anniversary

Nechville XXX banjoTom Nechville and his Nechville Musical Products company is celebrating 30 years of banjo building with a new limited production model they are dubbing XXX. Representing the Roman numerals for 30, the XXX is constructed with very high grade curly maple stained with what they call a Nebula Black Northern Lights finish.

The neck shape is of Nechville’s phantom style with the fifth string running through a channel in the neck. A special XXX custom peghead overlay of cocobolo matches the binding on the neck and resonator. Inlays in the neck are similar to the Nechville Galaxy pattern, but with “E=MC2” at the 7th fret, and “30th” at the 19th.

The golden-colored EVO frets are made with a high copper content and are more durable than the standard nickel/silver alloy. They are carefully installed on the compound radiused ebony fingerboard.

Only 30 of these XXX banjos will be built and more than half of those are already spoken for. More details can be found online, or by calling Nechville at 747-2BANJOS.
