Watson family called to Doc’s side

| May 27, 2012 | 7 Comments

We have learned that the family of Doc Watson has been called to his side at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.

Doc has been hospitalized there for the past few days, undergoing surgery on Thursday evening to repair an impacted colon, which ultimately involved its removal. That surgery had initially been described as successful, but Watson has been in the ICU listed in critical condition since Friday.

We could be seeing the sad end to a very noble life.

  1. I grew up listening to Doc. My dad would pick him up sometimes and take him to Boone to play in town. I started playing the guitar because of him. And later on became friends with him. I have taken and picked him up many times at the airport and the rides home and just talking is something I cherish greatly
