Thursday at Nothin’ Fancy ’16

Nothin' Fancy fan shows off her custom nails at the 2016 Nothin' Fancy Festival - photo © Bill WarrenNothin’ Fancy has what can only be described as “hardcore” fans, as evidenced by a fan’s fingernails we saw yesterday at the Nothin’ Fancy Festival in Buena Vista, VA.

Mike Andes posed with the band’s new CD. He said something about “shameless self-promotion.”

Jeff Scroggins and Colorado made their first appearance at the festival. They provide a top notch, high energy show. The Virginia-based Bluegrass Brothers provide everything from lonesome mountain bluegrass to the stylings of the Seldom Scene. They are probably the only band on the bluegrass circuit with both a left- handed banjo player and a left-handed mandolin player.

Goldwing Express again graced the Nothin’ Fancy stage. Their combination of sibling harmonies and “Pop’s” humor keeps crowds engaged. Mike Andes joined them on stage to provide a little “moral support” for Bob. Chris Sexton joined Jeff Scroggins on stage and did a great twin fiddle number. Nothin’ Fancy closed out the evening with their brand of music and humor.

Friday brings Remington Ryde, Flatt Lonesome. Little Roy and Lizzy, The Larry Stephenson Band, and Nothin’ Fancy.

Saturday features The Moron Brothers, Junior Sisk and Rambler’s Choice, The Spinney Brothers, Balsam Range, and Nothin’ Fancy.
