The Pistol And The Pen video from Darrell Webb
Rural Rhythm has released a first video from Breaking Down The Barriers, their recent release from The Darrell Webb Band. It was produced and directed by Sammy Passamano, who also shot the footage with Jeff Tolbert.
Written by Skip Ewing, The Pistol And The Pen touches on the difficult topic of suicide, one that rarely comes up in bluegrass songs. Darrell and his bandmates (Jared Hensley, Jake Joines, and Jeremy Arrowood) appear in the video, along with Brad and Laura Cox, and Connor Seale.
It’s not an easy song to listen to, and the video perfectly captures the desperation described by the song’s central character. The arrangement and the performance are spot on, showing a side of Webb that hasn’t been apparent on his previous recordings. Jake Joins’ resonator guitar also shines on this track.
The album is available wherever bluegrass CDs are sold, from Darrell’s web site, or from iTunes and other online download sites.
