Moonstruck Management, the booking and management firm who handles stellar bluegrass acts like Dr. Ralph Stanley, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Lonesome River Band, The Roys, Adkins & Loudermilk, has made a move into the world of old time music by signing the HogSlop String Band to the agency.
Their look might suggest more of an eclectic Americana-ish sound, but this sextet is dedicated to preserving the traditional mountain music associated with old time string bands. They use twin fiddle, provided by Casy Meikle and Kevin Martin, with Graham Sherrill on banjo, Gabe Kelley on guitar, Daniel Allen Frazier Jr. on washboard, and Casey McBride on the washtub bass.
Moonstruck principal Josh Trivett has no doubts about these boys’ potential.
“I am so excited about adding The HogSlop String band to the Moonstruck family of artists. I have such a love for the old-time string band style of music. When I first saw HogSlop perform, I was blown away at the authenticity of the music they presented mixed with the energy and uniqueness in which they conduct and deliver their show. I am excited about the immediate impact these guys are going to have on the industry.”
Here’s an introduction to their live sound.
