This brief post and photos are a contribution from Japanese bluegrass artist Kaz Inaba. He wrote to share news about his festival, The Kazuhiro Inaba Bluegrass Camp. To American ears, that would sound like a workshop weekend, but KazCamp was a music fest.
I’d like to let you know that The First Annual Kazuhiro Inaba Bluegrass Camp was held successfully on May 19 – 20, 2012.
The Camp was held in the beautiful mountain in Mino, Osaka, and the concert was held in the building.
There have been 10 or 15 bluegrass festivals in Japan, but there was no festival under someone’s name. I never dreamed that I would ever hold my own festival. However, with the help of volunteers and friends, it happened.
We had more 25 bluegrass bands from Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto, and Tokyo. The Bluegrass Ramble, All That Grass, Backwoods Mountaineers, Kind Of Blue, bluegrass bands from Kobe University, and more. The college students played wonderful ensemble and they put young power into the event.
We are already looking forward to KazCamp 2013!
