Terry Poirier is taking his bass skills to the Spinney Brothers, and has in fact, already started doing shows with the band. Like Allan and Rick Spinney, Terry is a native Canadian, though he lives now in Lexington, KY where he plans to remain.

Rick Spinney is happy to welcome him into the group.

“We are thrilled to have Terry Poirier join the Spinney Brothers band. We have known Terry for many years and respect his level of musicianship and dedication to Bluegrass music.”

As he moves on, Terry wanted to express his gratitude to Newtown, who he left to pursue a busier tour schedule with the Spinneys.

Terry Poirier“I thank the members of Newtown, specially Kati Penn-Williams, for giving me my first professional opportunity here in the US in 2008. I wish Newtown nothing but the best of luck in their future projects as I embark on this new chapter in my music career.

I fully expect my new venture with the Spinney Brothers to be great and I’m looking forward to many shows and miles traveled with them.”

Poirier plans to continue his radio program on WorldWide Bluegrass for the next few months, but said that the demands of the road life will make it difficult.
