Sunday Morning in the South to debut on Merle FM

Mike KellyPopular Knoxville bluegrass radio host Mike Kelly tells us that he has a new show, Sunday Morning in the South, set to debut next Sunday, July 14, on Merle 96.7 FM. The show, which will feature bluegrass Gospel music, is set to air on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to noon (ET).

The station was a finalist in this year’s Academy of Country Music’s Medium Market Station of the Year balloting.

Mike says that he is proud to offer bluegrass on this new Knoxville broadcaster, who came online a few years ago, and includes some bluegrass music throughout their current and classic country format.

“Owner Ron Meredith is a fan of bluegrass and bluegrass Gospel music and he has offered me the opportunity to start a bluegrass Gospel program on his station. The show will also include some classic country Gospel in the mix as well.

The chance to expose some new listeners to what bluegrass music has to offer was too good to pass up. I will also have a hand in the selection of bluegrass tunes played throughout the day on Merle FM.

I am excited and appreciate this wonderful opportunity to get more bluegrass on the radio in East Tennessee. I hope the artists will notice a rise in product sales in this market.”

Mike had spent the past 15 years as a host at WDVX in Knoxville, on their A Cumberland Sunday Morning program.

He has set up a Facebook page for the new show as a way for listeners to interact with the program.

Since Merle FM streams their signal live online, you can catch Mike’s Sunday show from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection.
