Submissions solicited for Bluegrass Country’s live WOB broadcasts

WAMUlogoFor the past five years, WAMU’s Bluegrass Country has lugged hundreds of pounds of gear from their Washington, DC studios to the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville to broadcast live each day during the IBMA’s World Of Bluegrass.

This year, they’ll make the trek to Raleigh, where they will offer live programming from the Convention Center September 24-27, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. (ET). Both live performance and interview segments will be scheduled before a studio audience with Bluegrass Country personalities, broken into roughly 25 minute slots.

The station is soliciting submissions now from anyone who would like to participate in September. To be considered, send the following information to Senior Producer, Chris Tesky:

  1. Link to band website and Facebook page
  2. No more than three MP3s or Youtube video links of your performances, or a physical copy of your latest CD and press kit
  3. Your contact information: name, phone number and email address

This information can be sent by email (teskey@wamu.org) or by mail to:

The deadline for submissions is June 30, and the schedule will be announced by August 1.

This is a new policy for 2013, and all artists and potential interviewees must submit through this process. The station particularly requests that no one call their office to be considered for a spot on the WOB schedule.

Like all Bluegrass Country broadcasts, these segments will air in the DC area at 105.5 FM in Washington, and at 93.5 FM in Frederick and Hagerstown, MD. The signal is also offered 24/7 worldwide at www.bluegrasscountry.org.
