Skills & Techniques videos with Casey Driessen

| August 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

Casey Driessen, he of the wicked fiddle chop, is offering a series of  instructional videos for download from his web site, starting in September.

The five lessons will each deal with one aspect of Casey’s highly distinctive accompaniment style, starting with the most basic percussive chops, and moving through the more detailed and complex patterns that he utilizes regularly in his own playing. Split-screen display will be included in these 5-8 minute presentations, with pricing depending on the length of the lesson, and whether they are purchased singly or in combinations

The topics break down as follows in this Skills & Techniques series:

  • Chop 101: My First Chop
  • Chop 102: Cyclical Slant
  • Chop 103: Kick Drum
  • Chop 104: Bass Lines
  • The Triple Chop

Casey’s followers on Facebook and Twitter will be able to download the videos one week prior to their official release on September 22.

Here’s an intro video Driessen put together to give a taste of what’s in store:

After completing a summer tour with Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, Casey is set to return to the road in late September with Colorfools, his fiddle power trio with Jeff Sipe and Alana Rocklin. You can see all the dates online, most of which will also feature daytime workshops, with all teaching done by ear.
