Sherry Boyd to Blue Ridge Backroads

Event Details

WBRF, Blue Ridge Country 98, has tapped Sherry Boyd to take over their popular Blue Ridge Backroads program, which airs evenings on FM powerhouse 98.1 from Galax, VA.

Long time host Jay Allen has recently retired from the show, after 23 years at the station.

Sherry’s is a familiar voice to folks in the station’s wide broadcast radius. She hosted for many years on WPAQ, in Mount Airy, NC, and has served as MC at bluegrass festivals all across the southeast. Before the IBMA Awards show moved to Nashville, Boyd often served as announcer at the annual gala event.

Starting next Monday (7/23), listen for Sherry on Blue Ridge Backroads from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, and on Fridays from The Rex Theater in Galax from 8:00-10:00 p.m. The Friday shows feature live sets from bluegrass and old time artists on stage.

Blue Ridge Backroads also airs on Saturday evenings from 6:00-10:30 p.m. with Judith Burnette behind the microphone.

In addition to their broadcast coverage map across Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia, WBRF also streams its signal online 24/7.

A hearty welcome to Sherry Boyd at WBRF. It will be great to hear her voice over the airwaves again!
