Saturday at SOIMF 2015

Breakfast for the Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers Fan Club at the Fall 2015 Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival - photo by Bill WarrenSaturday at SOIMF – to regulars, and the Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival to everyone else – kicked off with a breakfast for the members of the Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers Fan Club.

Kenny Smith, Buddy Robertson, and Michael Stockman conducted a guitar and dobro workshop prior to the start of the day’s entertainment. Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road opened the show. It Was the “Lady of Traditions” first appearance at this festival. Newtown, also a first time band, followed.

Kenny and Amanda Smith bought their band to the stage next. Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers broke the streak of bands having a female leader with their final appearance of the weekend, though Rhonda Vincent did join the Radio Ramblers for one song.

Mickey Harris is still on vocal rest, so Sally Berry continues to sing with the band. The festival was closed out with a “Ladies Night All-Star Jam.” The ladies included Rhonda Vincent, Sally Berry, Kelsi Harrigill, Charli Robertson, Kati Penn-Williams, and Amanda Smith. Joe Mullins filled in on banjo. Duane “Caitlin” Sparks played bass for the group.

Rhonda broke up and finally said: “Don’t look at me. I can’t sing!” She did get herself composed and the ladies ended the show with a rousing Gospel medley.
