Sad news from middle Tennessee

Charlie Cushman sent along this sad news about young Paul Warren, grandson of the legendary fiddler by the same name who worked with Flatt & Scruggs and Lester Flatt for so many years.

Paul Jackson Warren, 28, from Hendersonville, TN., lost his life in a car crash yesterday at approximately 7:30 a.m. CST, while on his way to work. He was the only son of Johnny and Kathy Warren, of Hendersonville. He is also survived by a younger sister, Lori, whose wedding was scheduled for December 3rd.

Weather and road conditions, with freezing fog, black ice, and near zero visibility, caused a nearly 100 car pile up on Viet Nam Veteran’s Parkway near the Rivergate area of Nashville. Police department veterans said they had never witnessed such conditions, or an accident of this magnitude locally.

Paul was as an up and coming bank executive at Volunteer State Bank in Hendersonville. He and his new bride Molly were just married 6 weeks ago. They were a beautiful young couple, who made you feel as if the future was in good hands. Paul was an avid golfer, like his father, and enjoyed playing guitar. He was deeply devoted to the legacy left by his grandfather, Fiddling Paul Warren, who worked many years with Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, and the Foggy Mt. Boys.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

He will be sorely missed by his family and many, many friends.

Please keep the Warren family in your prayers.
