Ragged Union touring in the UK

Ragged UnionColorado’s Ragged Union is in London, kicking off a two-week tour in the UK that will take them to Liverpool, Leeds, Lancaster, and Whitby. Along the way they’ll have shows for the British Bluegrass Music association in Tamworth, and perform US-style bluegrass at the Musicport Festival and the Lancaster Music Festival as well.

This isn’t the first UK tour for several members of the group. Geoff and Christina Union came over two years ago as the Ragged Union Bluegrass Trio with Jordan Ramsey on mandolin. This time they have the full band, with Chris Elliott on banjo, Justin Hoffenberg on fiddle, and Matthew Medford on bass.

Geoff, who leads the band on guitar, says that they also are looking forward to a showdown with their British alter ego.

“On a humorous note – there just happens to be another Ragged Union band – this one a rock and roll outfit based in Bristol, England. The two RUs have had a number of unintentional online encounters, and have plans to meet up for a pint (and perhaps a brawl) at the bluegrass band’s show at The Bell Inn in Bath. Wish us luck!”
